Guide for Police Officer (.PDF Format)
The
pre-examination materials have been developed by
the Office of State Examiner as a helpful guide to
individuals who wish to prepare for the entrance
competitive Firefighter and Police Officer examinations
for the Louisiana Municipal Fire and Police Civil
Service. These booklets contain sample questions
and other reference materials that are similar to
those which you may encounter on the actual tests.
We have provided links to the pre-exam booklets below.
If you are unable to print from these links, you
may request a copy of the pre-examination booklet
from the civil service board in the jurisdiction
where you wish to take the examination. A listing
of jurisdictions under the Municipal Fire and Police
Civil Service with contact information may be found
at Local
Jurisdiction Information.
IMPORTANT
NOTE:
The
Office of State Examiner can neither accept nor process
applications. You must submit your application
to the civil service board where you wish to take
an examination.
Please do
not send your completed application to
the Office of State Examiner.
The examinations for Firefighter, Police Officer, and Fire and Police Communications Officer (Legislative Session 2006) are the only examinations which can be taken in one jurisdiction for the purpose of having a score reported to another jurisdiction. The qualification requirements may differ among some jurisdictions, so you may wish to contact the jurisdiction where you want to have your score reported in addition to the jurisdiction where you plan to take the test, in order to make sure you can meet the requirements for the application process in both jurisdictions.
Examination
dates will be added to this site as jurisdictions
request them. The contact person for a jurisdiction
will have information concerning the application
process.
